Media Accounts of Dog Attacks

Newspaper and media accounts of dog attacks are often seriously flawed and/or incomplete recounting of the events and circumstances that directly contributed to a dog attack.

It is imperative for those seriously concerned with addressing dog attacks to understand the limitations of the media and the media's role in disseminating "information" that is often counterproductive to reducing the incidence of dog attacks.

Statistics citing the number of attacks by particular breeds of dogs DO NOT reveal any valuable or applicable information on the causes or reasons for canine aggression or the prevention of dog attacks.
